Biography
My name is adri- pronounce ayyyyyeee-dree 🙂 I am a nonbinary dancer, educator and choreographer. I started my tap dance journey at a year and three months old and never stopped! I started training competitively when I was nine, assisting classes when I was twelve and by the time I turned fifteen, I was teaching my own classes! I dance and teach all styles, but in the last year, I have really zeroed in on tap, as I love it so much! When I’m not teaching or taking class, you can find me at home or outside hanging out with my wife and our three furry kids- Piper (cat), Scarlett (dog), and Juniper (kitten). I studied and completed my BS and MS in Psychology, as well as my Life Coach Certificate- keeping some of the approaches I learned during this time of study at the forefront of my teaching and classroom culture. I value authenticity and genuine connection and building community!
Why is Sprung Flooring important to you?
Sprung flooring is amazing for my joints, I have had bad knees since the seventh grade (lol) and I can absolutely feel the difference between dancing on a sprung floor and a floor that is not sprung. Especially as a tap dancer, honestly though, any dancer benefits from sprung flooring when it comes to jumping and really pressing down into the floor- that shock absorption is essential to longevity in dance.
Why do you love O'Mara Sprung Floors?
O’Mara Sprung Floors are top tier! Truly crafted to perfection, you can feel and hear the quality when I am tapping on my travel board. I would have to say, the volume is my favorite part. My travel board elevates my taps- I performed in a show on my board with no mics and you could hear them so clearly and they were beautifully crisp! I also use this board when I teach, as the floors at some studios I teach at are just marley, I often let my students take turns on the board so they can hear their sounds fully, which truly helps them so much!! My favorite O’Mara Sprung Floor is my ultimate travel board 4×4- she is a hefty gal, but the perfect size!!
