Safe, Easy Maintenance Dance Floors For Your Studio

Studio Dance Floor

Commercial dance studio floors arrive custom sized to fit your space. Installation is simple and straight forward. With detailed instructions, individually labeled panels and included toolkit, anyone can install and O'Mara sprung dance floor. It only takes basic carpentry skills to install the vented trim and the doorway transition ramp.

If you have been dancing on hard floors, you will find injury rates decrease dramatically. The resilient wood and foam blocks used to make every O’Mara Sprung Floor create one of unmatched protection, longevity, and beauty. Many studio owners sell their O'Mara Floors when they retire from teaching. It's the best investment you'll make in your dance studio.

Ballet Floor

Serious ballet studios require both slip resistance for safety in pointe shoes and shock absorption to prevent injuries from hard and unyielding concrete floors. For ballet studios we recommend either our:

  1. Birch Subfloor with Studiofloor Vinyl - No rosin required for pointe work. ASTM Friction Coefficient of 0.79 and 70% shock absorption.
  2. Ash Sprung Dance Floor - Requires rosin for pointe work. ASTM Friction Coefficient of 0.7 and 70% shock absorption.

Tap Floor

Studios focusing primarily on tap want excellent sound, durability and shock absorption. For tap dance studios we recommend our Maple Sprung Floor as a first, best choice, or our Birch Sprung Subfloor with a Marley style dance surface:

  1. Maple Sprung Floor for its clean crisp sound, durable finish and of course it’s resilient properties. The force reduction is 70%. DIN Standards recommend a minimum of 53% shock absorption. After every tap class, you will want to damp mop your floor with a 1:4 solution of Simple Green All-Purpose Cleaner to water. This is the low-maintenance way to remove aluminum oxide residue created by tap shoes and keep your dance floor clean.
  2. Birch Sprung Subfloor with Mezzafloor vinyl - The sound is not as crisp and clean as with the maple, but mezzafloor vinyl is a heavy duty vinyl. The force reduction is 70%. DIN Standards recommend a minimum of 53% shock absorption.

Multi-Use Studios

A multi-style dance studio has many considerations. The two best options for versatility are:

  2. Maple Sprung Floor for its clean crisp sound, durable finish and of course its resilient properties.

Ballroom Dance Studio Floor

Ballroom dancers seek excellence in performance and in flooring. The two preferred options for silky smooth seams and excellent resilience are:

  1. Maple Sprung Dance Floor for its even color tone, smooth surface and superb resiliency. The floor comes pre-finished with a durable, slip-resistant urethane. This finish is just right for ballroom as it is. We recommend that all dancers wear clean shoes on your floor, and that they do not use any resins or oils, on either their shoes or the floor.

  2. Ash Sprung Floor for its smooth surface and superb resiliency. The floor comes pre-finished with a durable, slip-resistant urethane. This finish is just right for ballroom as it is. We recommend that all dancers wear clean shoes on your floor, and that they do not use any resins or oils, on either their shoes or the floor.
